We recently hosted a Shabbaton for the Barmy Boys of 2014 - part of the Barmy Discovery Course my husband runs for Fathers and Sons.
The group meets in our home every month for learning and activities but the biggest hit is always these divine Chocolate Chip Sticks! The boys devour them in seconds and I can never have enough!
So with all the boys eating at us on Friday night I baked a new batch for dessert and thought I would share the recipe with you.
It literally takes ten minutes to make and then 15 - 20 minutes in the oven.
I've already had a few moms call for the recipe because their kids haven't stopped raving about them!
It looks very fancy when you take a chocolate chip stick and stick it into a scoop of ice cream and place some fruit on the side.
Here is the recipe:
Chocolate Chip Sticks
½ cup oil
½ cup sugar
½ cup treacle sugar
1 egg lightly beaten
1 teaspoon vanilla essence
1 ½ cup flour
½ baking soda
½ tsp salt
½ cup choc chips
Preheat oven to 180.Use baking sheets on tray.
Combine oil, sugar and treacle sugar in a large bowl and mix well.
Stir in egg and vanilla.
Combine flour, baking soda and salt tossing with a fork. Stir into egg mixture and mix with your hands.
Fold in choc chips.
Form dough into two 2 to 4 inch wide logs.Place on the prepared baking sheets
Bake for 15 to 20 minutes or until edges are golden brown.
Cool for 10 min and cut slightly warm into sticks.
I doubled the recipe and was able to make 5 of these logs, which gave me 75 pieces.
Enjoy the biscuits and the compliments of your very excited family and guests!
