Pesach @ the Parents!

My family is spread out all over the world which means that we don't often have a chance to be all together. But when we do, it is a non stop party! This year, my siblings and their families from Hawaii, Melbourne and New York descended on my parents home in Johannesburg for a Pesach to remember!

We the Cape Town contingent joined for Chol Hamoed making it eight out of eleven siblings (and lots of grandkids ka'h) who camped out at my parents home! Somehow we managed to squeeze in more than 20(!) people at my parents with the rest staying at the comfortable 15 On Orange Guest House nearby with its gracious host Bev Marcus. You can imagine the wonderful memories this created for the kids, getting to know and spending time with their grandparents and family from all around the world.

I must just also say that I have never in my life met anybody with the energy of my mother! She is truly an inspiration! Weeks before Pesach she was already busy in her Pesach Kitchen preparing as much as she could in advance and throughout Pesach there was a never ending supply of food. Her readily available snacks (all home made because we try not to buy processed foods on Pesach) included delicious Pesach cakes, biscuits, juices and dried fruit rolls. During the last days of Pesach there were at least 35 people at every meal because in addition to all the family she still invited guests!

Lots of little children usually means lots of tired parents but not with my mother around! She would insist on looking after the kids in the early hours of the morning so that the parents would be well rested. I had lots to be grateful for on Mothers Day this year!

During Chol Hamoed we had some special family outings together. We had a great day out at the Walter Sisulu Botanical Gardens in Roodeport. It has gorgeous picnic spots, a stunning waterfall, hikes, train ride for the kids and lots of playing space - I would definitely recommend it to the Jobergers looking for something to do with their families on a Sunday. We also went to 'Rush' an indoor trampoline park that is lots of fun for all ages. But most of all it was the time spent bonding together, laughing, talking, eating and sharing, that made the trip so memorable and special.
